For nearly a decade, Democrats in Congress have successfully blocked every effort by Republicans to keep the promise they made to voters of fully repealing Obamacare. Meanwhile, the law continues to hurt Americans in countless ways across the country.
- Average premiums for individual health insurance have risen to $476 dollars a month, reflecting a 105 percent increase.[i]
- The average deductible for Silver level plans has increased to nearly $8,000 for families.[ii]
- The number of small firms offering health benefits to their workers has dropped 24 percent between 2012 and 2016.[iii]
- Half of U.S. counties now have a “choice” of only one insurer on their exchanges.[iv]
- The Government Accountability Office (GAO) found that 1,036 of the tax-subsidized abortion plans sold in 2014 included abortion on demand.[v]
Obamacare has fundamentally failed to live up to its promises: affordable, accessible coverage for all. Americans now pay more for policies that cover less. Networks are narrower, deductibles are higher and drug costs prohibitive.[vi] [vii] Worse, many who once could afford coverage no longer can.[viii]
Obamacare is a policy failure, as well as a moral one, and must be repealed. Congressional Republicans should not wait to act, as these policies continue to harm families across the country. We urge Congress to act with haste to keep their promise and repeal Obamacare.
