As the government funding deadline rapidly approaches, conservatives urge Congress to pass a clean Continuing Resolution (CR) – a straight extension of funds without additional spending, earmarks, special carve outs, or other funding alterations designed to limit the Trump agenda.
If the current appropriations process is allowed to become laden with policy riders and personal projects, Congress – and the left, in particular – will seize the opportunity to fund earmarks and programs that President Trump has vowed to eliminate. These include bloated, wasteful, and ideologically progressive programs, inefficient bureaucracies, and initiatives that prioritize globalist interests over American workers. Appropriators, as we have already seen, will attempt to re-fund programs that President Trump’s administration has effectively dismantled.
A clean CR is the only practical way to preserve President Trump’s bold reforms, from ending progressive capture of federal grants, to enhanced border security, to regulatory rollbacks. It sends a clear message that the era of unchecked spending is over, allowing the president to honor the mandate he received from voters while also paving the way for real change that puts America first.
